[January 19, 2023] New Summit Rack™ series - More Rack Space, Out of Thin Air
Rack space is a premium in any vital, high-revenue application. Data centers, cell sites, metro networks, edge computing—wherever revenue-generating equipment resides, it’s up to network engineers to make the most of valuable rack space.
Now there’s a simple, cost-effective platform for housing essential equipment above equipment racks, in space that’s seldom utilized.
The new Summit Rack from Amphenol Network Solutions mounts to ladder rack or wire basket cable tray—above standard racks—creating newly usable rack space for mission-critical equipment such as patch panels or power panels, while preserving essential rack space below for revenue-generating gear or components that require more frequent access.
In effect, Summit Rack users gain additional rack space without sacrificing floor area or space in existing racks—it’s more rack space out of thin air.
“I like to think of it as a ‘zero RU’ product,” said Kristin Erickson, Summit Rack Product Manager. “It doesn’t take up any RU within the rack, yet it can be ordered as part of a system to support our power panels, fiber panels, or any 19-inch mountable equipment.”
Part of the innovative Amphenol Network Solutions Hyper-System portfolio, the Summit Rack is the latest example of how our engineers work to help end users maximize application space while maintaining equipment usability and network reliability.
With a robust design, Summit Racks reliably accommodate standard equipment in a variety of applications. Users mount Summit Racks directly to wire tray, or to ladder rack via all-thread components.
Additional key features include:
When deployed with fiber optic panels, cable management features support and organize fiber as it exits the chassis from the front or rear, promoting proper bend radius for up to 3.0 mm fiber. The Summit Rack also integrates seamlessly with WaveTrax fiber trough when utilized with FlexTrax flexible drops.
Multiple ordering options are available to fit the specific application.
