[May 10, 2022] The new C21 1RU tray-based optical distribution platform from Amphenol Network Solutions provides a wealth of features engineered for user access, simplicity, and high termination density, all in just 1 RU of space.
An ultra-compact footprint and high density—up to 48 SC or 96 LC connectors—make C21 1RU ideal for a broad range of applications. Let’s look at two examples.
MSO/Cable Applications—Lower Fiber Counts
As today’s MSO/CATV topologies continue to migrate essential equipment closer to customers and end-users, a lower fiber count patch and splice panel fits the requirements of these remote applications.
With C21 1RU, patch and splice capabilities are easily accessible and manageable due to the sliding tray design. Users can either slide the tray out to the stop point to access patch connectors, or completely remove the tray to simplify splicing.
In just 1RU of physical space, users gain more than sufficient capacity for most typical applications.
Datacenter/Telecom Applications—Top of Rack
In a standard data center “top of rack” application, users feed incoming fiber from a larger cross-connect point into a patch panel at the top of the rack, then distribute jumpers to servers or other active equipment below.
The high-density C21 1RU enables this critical functionality without sacrificing significant rack space.
Simplified connector access streamlines initial startup and ongoing maintenance, and enhanced, built-in cable management features route and protect incoming multifiber cables and optical jumpers connected to equipment below.
With multiple tie-off points, cable ring holders, and hook and loop fasteners that maintain cable management while the tray slides, C21 1RU safely and securely accommodates all required optical cabling.
Additionally, by utilizing industry-standard LGX®-style adaptor plates, C21 1RU eliminates the supply chain challenges of proprietary systems, enabling rapid deployment for time-sensitive installations.
