[February 27, 2020] We asked Kristin a few questions about what it's like to work at Amphenol Network Solutions and learned why she loves calling the great Pacific Northwest her home!
What three words would you use to describe our culture?
Collaborative, Customer-focused, and Driven
What have you gained from working at Amphenol Network Solutions?
I have learned a great deal in my three years at Amphenol Network Solutions, but what has been most valuable is gaining experience working cross-functionally with people all across the organization. In Product Management, I work closely with Inside and Outside Sales, Planning, and Engineering to meet the needs and expectations of our customers. Gaining an understanding of how different parts of our organization work helps me successfully collaborate with these different teams.
What do you like most about your role? What is the most challenging part of your role?
I like that my role is dynamic. Daily, I am learning new things and working with different individuals across the organization to not only solve problems but deliver solutions to our customers. This, in turn, also makes my role challenging because I have to be aware of potential changes and remain agile and flexible when they do come my way.
What does a typical day (or week) look like for you at work?
For me, every day is a little bit different. As the product manager of our fiber product line, my tasks vary from working with application engineering and sales to develop fiber solutions for customers to working internally with teams to drive projects to completion. I also spend quite a lot of time on product lifecycle management for my product line, making sure we have a healthy portfolio of products for our customers.
How do you define success?
I would define success as being in a career that you feel like you are contributing while still being continually challenged to learn and grow. For me, that is a really good feeling. Success doesn't mean that you have everything figured out, it means that you are good at tackling whatever challenges may come your way and you are trusted amongst your peers. You have the satisfaction knowing that you are putting forward your best and making a positive impact on the work and the people around you.
What places have you lived and do you have a favorite?
I am originally from Massachusetts, but have lived in many different places including California, Colorado, Minnesota, and even Sweden! Currently, I live in North Idaho and it is one of my favorite places to be so far because I'm being surrounded by natural beauty every day. We have great mountain skiing in the winter and beautiful mountain lakes and rivers for camping and swimming in the summer, all of which my family and I take full advantage of year-round!
