Spring is a season of new beginnings, and we see it all around us. Our parent company Amphenol recently released their 2022 Sustainability Report, which you can read here. Here at ANS we recently updated our employee welcome packets, with focus on sustainable products. We are starting fresh this month with a new sustainability topic: recycling! We are eager to continue meeting our sustainability goals, so we want to encourage all of you to learn more about recycling this month.
On that note, we wanted to share some exciting news coming from our shipping department. ANS has been exploring ways to make our shipping materials greener. We researched a variety of resources, from biodegradable plastics, to compostable plastics, to plant-based packaging. One change that has already taken place is the switch from Styrofoam to cardboard packaging. We can't wait to update with more sustainable changes soon!
Things like used Tupperware containers, paint cans, lightbulbs, or small electronics may not strike you as recyclable, but they are! Check your old Tupperware for the 1 or 2 recycling numbers - if they have a 1 or 2, they are accepted by most local recycling programs. If you have a growing collection of paint cans, but don't know how to dispose of them, check out PaintCare, a non-profit with over 250 locations that recycles paint cans! For your lightbulbs and old electronics, many stores have introduced boxes where you can leave these items to be recycled safely. Check out Call 2 Recycle to see where you can recycle these items locally.
We look forward to another sustainability topic coming soon!
To become the network provider of the future, we must take steps to preserve the natural resources we rely upon today. That is why we chose reforestation for our sustainability spotlight for the month of April!
Spring serves as a reminder of resilience and regenerative power in nature. There is no holiday more fitting to celebrate this than Arbor Day. Coming up soon on April 28th, 2023, Arbor Day is a holiday that highlights and celebrates reforestation projects across the world! Amphenol Network Solutions is proud to celebrate Arbor Day 2023 by pledging a donation to One Tree Planted.
One Tree Planted is a non-profit organization where one tree is planted for every dollar donated. The organization has current reforestation projects in over 80 countries and has planted over 90 million trees since its inception. These reforestation efforts help protect biodiversity, offsets carbon emissions, and helps communities rebuild after forest fires.
In addition to our pledge to One Tree Planted, Amphenol Network Solutions will have an upcoming opportunity to plant some trees in the local community. Urban tree coverage is another impactful method of supporting reforestation!
We look forward to another month of sustainability coming soon!
We want to encourage all Amphenol Network Solutions employees to learn about sustainability, especially in our workplace. As a company we are empowered by responsibility and stand for sustainable business practices. This month we are focusing on single-use product awareness and sharing some tips on how to reduce our consumption of those items in the workplace!
Like the name suggests, these are products that are typically used once and then thrown away. When products have such a short lifespan, this increases our contribution to landfills exponentially. Many single-use items are things we use everyday, and our use adds up quickly! Here are some examples:
We want to emphasize that participation matters more than perfection! Each time you remember to think sustainably, you are making positive changes.
