Did you know that young adults listen to 4,503,417,453 minutes of music each week? That’s 1.28 billion songs. To keep up with consumers’ insatiable need for more speed and bandwidth, communications service providers are “under massive pressure to increase bandwidth, speed up delivery,” says Spencer Williams, Telect Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Product Strategy.
This means network providers are forced to continuously expand their networks and push their fiber to the edge.
Cell towers connected to older copper wires do not have the adequate bandwidth for modern mobile devices that consume massive amounts of data. As a result, today’s towers are being upgraded with fiber optics that offer virtually unlimited bandwidth.
Fiber to the edge (FTTX) provides unprecedented high-speed internet access to homes, apartment buildings and businesses. In fact, FTTX promises connection speeds up to 100 megabits per second, which is 20 to 100 times faster than a typical cable modem or DSL.
“This year, Telect will be launching a brand new family of high-density fiber distribution panels,” says Walt Takisaki, Telect Product Development VP. Telect is constantly improving its fiber connectivity product line and innovating products that help providers push their network all the way to the edge.
