It simply isn’t logical—or cost effective—to tear out all your fiber optic network equipment and replace it every time you need to add fiber.
Communications service providers (CSP) and enterprise networks have an insatiable appetite for bandwidth. We're all hitting stride for 40 gigs per second, while some are eyeing 100 Gbps. What comes after that as our networks grow and grow at an exponential rate?
CSPs need to satisfy their customers. Heck, global mobile data traffic grew 63 percent in 2016.
Enterprise companies want cloud storage and virtualization.
Fiber networks now have multifiber push-on (MPO) trunks to lead them into the hyperscale environment. With 12 optical fibers, each smaller than a human hair, and a connection smaller than a dime, MPO cables are ideal for packing a lot of fiber into a smaller footprint.
Enter the Amphenol Telect ADF. You've had one in your network for a decade or more. They provided the backbone for NBC Sport's network during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil.
It's designed for high-capacity central office applications and its slide-out trays make for easy access to your optical terminations.
Adapter packs are available to replace your SC or LC connectors so you can start migrating your network to hyperscale. Each tray holds six MPO/MTP adapters, for a total of 2 connectors per module. To maximize density, trays are designed for 3 mm fiber, allowing for six cables per tray.
We make it simple to make that switch, too. All you need is a flathead screwdriver and you're off to the races.
Check out our video on how easy it is.
And if you need MPO cable assemblies, check with our sister company, Amphenol Fiber Optic Products.
